A Bunch of BULL

Hayden has been talking NON stop about going to see HIS bull for two days.  He also wants to ride it!!!  I was informed by him that he will not get bucked off because he will hang on to the horns and the bull won't be able to buck him off.  The bull does not have horns so I am not sure how this will go down.  Hayden also told me that the bull will lay down so he can get off.  I am not sure when Hayden has been "training" the bull, but he is adamant that he can get the bull to lay down and that he is going to ride it.

I told Hayden that he had to take a nap and then we would go see "his" bull.  He was ready for his nap 2 hours earlier than normal!!!!!!!!!  As soon as he woke up from his nap he was getting ready to go.  When you go see your bull you need to wear the following....a hat, pair of boots, and your chaps.  Within 2 minutes and 37 seconds he was ready to go.....so we went.

When we got to the farm all the cows were out {it is also standard that the cows are out every Sunday morning so you are late for church} and Mike was getting the 4-wheeler {also pronounced 4-lee-low at our house} to go gather them up.  Mike headed out in the wheat field and got them gathered up and headed back to where they were suppose to be.  They were good cows today and went right back to the other field.  Somedays cows are naughty and like to go in every direction, but not today!!

Hayden is happy on the 4-leelow
Hayden had to get a ride on the 4-wheeler with his dad.  He also had to help dad fix the fence.

Putting the electric fence back up
Hayden never got the chance to ride his bull today, but he was totally happy being his dad's shadow.

Mike said he had to get back to doing some dirt work so Hayden I decided to tag along with him.  Men love really big machines that move a ton of dirt for some reason.  It is probably similar to women loving shoes.

It was an absolutely gorgeous day so I didn't mind standing around watching my hubby play in the dirt.

Pushing the dirt into a HUGE hole in the ground.{and I thought I took pictures of EVERYTHING, but no picture of the hole}.  I was to busy admiring the beautiful blue sky and watching my step.

Then I would watch the dozer.

Then I would watch my step again.

Hmmmm...rascally rabbits!!!

I really had to watch out for this one......

Then he was finished for the time being and it was time to go.

But I had to watch out for this because I did not take Hayden's advice and wear my boots.

Have a good day!!!  And watch your step!!!!

Bacon No Lettuce & Tomato Dip

I made this dip the other day and it seemed to be a big hit with everyone!  It has two of my favorite {and not so friendly on the hips} ingredients...bacon...and cream cheese.  I also like that it is a warm dip.  Enjoy!!!!!

Bacon NO Lettuce & Tomato Dip

1/2 pound of BACON fried and crumbled
1 cup of mayonnaise
1 cup of sour cream
8oz. of CREAM CHEESE
1 1/2 cups shredded colby jack cheese
1 small tomato chopped (give it a good squeeze before chopping to get some of the juice out)
1 quart bag of your frozen sweet corn that you spent an entire day last summer putting up....then you spent the entire next day cleaning dried sweet corn off every surface in your house...but it was soooo worth it...right?!?! (I suppose you could use the "store bought" frozen corn....or GULP...canned corn)
1/4 cup chopped green onions
a lil bit of salt and pepper to taste

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Heat corn on the stove or in the microwave and drain excess water off.  Mix mayonnaise, sour cream, and cream cheese until combined (and salt and pepper if you want).  Add crumbled bacon, corn and stir.  Add the colby jack cheese, green onions (save a few to top the dip for garnishment),  tomato and stir.  Pour into a baking dish sprayed with cooking spray and bake for 25 minutes or until bubbling.  Top with green onions.  Serve with corn chips.

Nutritional Information:
This dip is delicious and therefore it will go straight to your hips.  If you REALLY want to know the nutritional information you REALLY should not consider making this dip. That's all!!

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day!!!!!!!!!

My wonderful hubby gave me a gift card to one of my favorite stores{thanks to my sister in law for the store suggestion} for Valentine's day.  He also gave me a humorous card that was so fitting for us!  I gave him a bag of heart shaped Reese peanut butter cups {wink ;) wink}.  I have ate half of them myself.  Okay, so that might have been a selfish gift.

We never celebrate Valentine's day in a big way....like go to McDonalds or anything like that.  Our lives, like so many are always hectic and we don't make a big deal of it.  For me, I would rather have an ordinary day be our "Valentine's" day.  I am sure a lot of people are out for supper tonight waiting for their name to be called so they can be seated at a table.  The restaurants are probably so busy that the service won't be what it could be on an ordinary day.  I would be starving and probably have to go somewhere that serves peanuts in buckets to keep me rational in my hungry state.  Plus, I find great satisfaction knowing I don't have to be the one to clean up all those peanut shells.  Instead, I am home helping my girls with their spelling words and listening to them fight all while making Cream Cheese Chicken and Rice and waiting for my Valentine to get home {and watching The Bachelor}!

I love my hubby!  He is my best friend.  I love that he is a hard worker.  I love that he loves dirt, big green tractors, and furry four legged critters!

I love that he loves our four 2 legged "critters" more than life itself!  And I can't believe he puts up with me, but I love that he does!  I love you Babe!!!

P.S.  I also love my hubby because he can open jars that I can't...even after I beat the lid with a butter knife!
P.S.S.  I also love that he can change light bulbs for me because I am vertically challenged.
P.S.S.S.  I also love him because he can reach the top shelf in our cupboards and get my "not used often" items down for me.
P.S.S.S.S.  I just love everything about him!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How Time Flies...

Four years ago I became a mom to a baby boy!!!  I can't believe how time flies!!!!!!!

Of course I have to reminisce about him coming into the world....because I am a mom and that is what moms do....

I ended up having pre-term labor with him and my doctor didn't want to deliver him early.  I went into labor because I became sick with the "butt flu" {sorry, but that is what I had} and vomiting.  I was admitted to the hospital and hooked up to the monitors and they pumped me full of drugs {which I am pretty sure the side effects were nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea....like I needed more of that} .  It was quite fun running to the bathroom every 3 minutes and 28 seconds with my IV pole and fetal heart monitors.  It was horrible!  My contractions were every 3 minutes.   I remember my doctor coming during the middle of the night to check me.  He said to the nurse he thought they should move me to the labor and delivery room.  WHAT!!!  I was not feeling up to delivering a baby {I KNOW, I have done this 3 other times}!!  My nurse, being a mother and knowing what it is like to push a baby out told him NO!!!  Yes, I was having contractions and all that stuff was happening, but it was happening slow and I was sick...really sick.  They continued to pump me full of fluid and drugs and eventually my contractions became less intense and not as often.  I thanked the nurse BTW!!!  After three days in the hospital they sent me home.

Although we did not have a baby that hospital trip, my doctor was sure I would not make it to my due date which was February 10th.  I continued to have contractions for the next month.  I continued to go to my weekly doctor visits.  I continued thinking any minute I will have this baby.  Then it became obvious that I wasn't going to have this baby on my own.  I was induced with all the others...and pitocin is still NOT my friend.  My doctor scheduled me for induction on February 15th because I refused to have a Valentine's baby.  UGH!!!!

On February 13th I received a phone call from my doctor's nurse and they wanted to move my induction to the 16th because he was going to be gone on the 15th.  Well, I just happen to be 9 months pregnant and you don't want to mess with a woman in that state.  I told the nurse I would be heading up to the hospital today and I was going to have this baby....TODAY!!!  She said "ummm oookaayyy"....then I explained that I was still having contractions on a regular basis and there was no way I was going to make it to the 16th.  Then she said "okay".  We headed up to the hospital and Hayden Michael was born!

Happy Birthday Hayden!!!
He is such a cutie....and I am not biased at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  What a blessing he has been for us!!!

A Major Breakdown...

Part of farm life is the constant battle with breakdowns.  Breakdowns happen all to often and never at a good time.  They like to "show up" during harvest and they are not picky as to whether it is wheat or corn harvest.  They show up during haying, during planting, and during spraying....well they "show up" all the time when it is not a good time.  Nothing is more frustrating for my husband than breakdowns.  Oh, and then if he has to order a part and wait for it to arrive there is precious time getting wasted {this should allow him time to take his wife out} while he is at a standstill.  No, not really, because there is always work to be done on the farm.  There is NO time for nonsense like that!!!  For example, my birthday ALWAYS falls when he is drilling wheat {I am considering coming up with an alternative day for my birthday}.  He is busy and I am an understanding wife and allow him to get the wheat in the ground on my birthday.  It is just another "normal" day for me.  I guess it is a normal day for him as well {he has forgot my birthday before...but I am not counting the TWO times he did....I promise}.

Anyhow, back to the breakdown I had.  I was attempting to complete my "weekly laundry list" and I had noticed that when my washing machine was done running the clothes seemed to be a little "wetter" than normal.  I threw in another load and this time it was really wet when it was suppose to be finished.....{ughhh.....sigh}.  My hubby was kind enough to be my repair man and fix the washing machine.  I have a front load washing machine and it has this little "catch all" pouch thingy ma bob that eats socks and various items like these:

I am going to go out on a limb and say that this did not do my washing machine any good.  Did I mention that my washing machine is only five years old.....FIVE!!!!!!  The last one we had only lasted two years!!!!!!  I get really jealous when I see someone load their "Harvest Gold" washing machine with dirty laundry and put a washed load in their "Harvest Gold" dryer and it washes and dries it without missing a beat.  I am also jealous when I see the same thing happen with an "Avocado Green" set as well.  You know those sets are probably 40 plus years old!

So it is obvious that Lincoln has really been through the ringer!!!!!  I hope that my washing machine does not start to "nickel" and "dime" me too!!  My repair man researched what the problem might be and found the part we needed.  He checked some local stores to see if they carry the part and of course they don't so we had to order one {should this allow a date night while we wait for the part?!?!?}.  We had to pay thirty bucks to get it here in two days.....otherwise it would take about three weeks.  I think I may go into washing machine withdrawal if I had to wait that long!!!  Then I would have to seek professional help and that would cost more than thirty bucks....so I won't complain about how costly, expensive, not frugal, rip-off, ridiculously priced the shipping was for a tiny little part!

So you can only imagine what not having my washing machine is like with a family of six.  It is not a pretty site so please brace yourself for what several days of being broke down looks like{viewer discretion advised}.

It is overwhelming.....I KNOW!!  Thankfully I am loved and my neighbor allowed me to use her washing machine as well as my mom.  This is how much they love me....you may want to brace yourself for this as well......THEY EVEN FOLDED IT FOR ME!!!!!!!!!!  Now if I could figure out a way to get them to come to my house {I will bake cookies.......or make a fruit pizza because they both love my fruit pizza} and put the laundry away I would be set.  Shhhh!!! Don't drop any hints to them about me bribing them with food!!!!
