It Finally Happened......

Do you all remember the last family photo I posted here on The Farmer's Wife?  Well, if not please read this post here.  That was over TWO years ago!!

Last weekend we attended a wedding of one of our hired hands.  Our son was asked to be RING SECURITY, so I figured this would be a perfect opportunity to finally get a "real" family photo.  We would all be in the same place at the same time AND we all would be spiffed up as well....especially my son in his cute little tux!!!!  The reception was held at the bride's parents home which was gorgeous and there were plenty of scenic choices to for us to finally get that overdue family photo!

Typical photo sessions with my kids usually go like this....

Or.... a couple of them try to hard at achieving the perfect smile.... {I still like this picture though}

And then we sometimes luck out and get a nice shot!

That is me and my clan....LOVE THEM!!!

A special thanks to our friend Calvin for taking our family picture {I know these people, and they are not the easiest family to work with...haha}.

You can check out my latest adventure here.  Yes, I branched out with yet another job to add to my resume.  It's a little something I have a passion for and truly enjoy.  If you like me work, please like my page.

Our Fair Week {Picture Heavy}

I am still recovering from our fair {still lacking sleep and trying to get my house back in order...aka LAUNDRY}!!!  I think I am about to get all the dirt out of my ears and nose.  I tried to get in for a pedicure {I have only had 2 in my life} on Monday, but they were booked up.  Guess my nasty feet will have to wait for another day.  Enough about me and my toe jam.

I LOVE our county fair!!!  It is a county owned carnival.  The fair board members and the individuals in charge of the carnival are awesome in my book for the countless hours they put in.   It is A LOT of work for the community to make sure it is a success each year.  Each town in our community is assigned a night to volunteer during fair.   I am SO THANKFUL for those who volunteer so my kids and all the others can have a fabulous time and a successful 4-H year.  To me, it is ALL about the kids!!!

Here is our fair week in pictures.

A beautiful sunset during fair.

My Dad {an electrician} and my Hubs getting things in order before fair kicked off.  Since Grandpa had his bucket there my son and his friend got to go for a ride way up high!

Then of course, we had the beef show, horse show, exhibit hall, midway, demo derby, and SNO-CONES!!!

More of the horse and beef show. Nothing like a little rodeo action for some entertainment.  I love the cowboy knelt down praying before his event.

The beef sale always brings out some tears when the kids have to say goodbye to their animals, BUT it is nothing a glitter tattoo can't fix!!!

So there you have it, our week of fair!!!  Another year of great memories in the book!!!

If you haven't entered for the Bracelet Giveaway, you have until Thursday Aug. 2nd at noon to do so!!!

My BABY is turning 5!!!

I can't believe that my baby will be 5 in a few weeks!!!  Time just goes to darn fast and my babies aren't babies anymore.  My son can't wait for February 13th to arrive so he will officially be FIVE!!!  He is still my baby....even if he is five!!

I wanted to start documenting my kids on their birthday so in years to come we can go back and see how they have changed.  I don't know why I didn't start this sooner.....like 13 years ago when my oldest daughter was born.  Anyhow, on with it from here on out.

When I "interviewed" my son this morning I was surprised to learn his favorite color is brown.  Usually, it is green or yellow {something about tractors...} and a BULL RIDER...this mama doesn't think so!!!!  When I asked him who his role model was he responded "what is a role model?".  I explained what a role model is and he had the perfect answer to the perfect role model....his Daddy..awe!!!

Such a handsome lil' guy!!!

Bad Word

A quick story I had to share.

Last night my son was already tucked in bed, but he somehow got his sister to come get me and tell me he needed to talk to me.  I went to my son's room and asked him what he needed.  He began to say something with his quivering lip, but couldn't get it all out.  When he was finally able to sputter some words out he told me he said a bad word.  I did not get mad at him {he thought he was going to be in big trouble} and thanked him for telling me.  I encouraged him to not say it again.  About 2 minutes later he was asleep.

Fast forward to tonight.  I was preparing supper and he said he wanted to help {he is great help}.  I told him he could and he pulled a chair up to the stove.  While we were cooking his guilt got to him and he was again apologizing for saying a bad word.  I said to him "don't SAY it again" and we went on cooking.  A few minutes later he told me he didn't say the bad word.  Here is what he said to me "Mom, it wasn't me that said it.  I didn't tell my mouth to say it!!  It just dumped out, so it wasn't my fault!"  I had to turn my head and laugh.

Now, how could I be upset with a face like that?!?

My "Model"

I decided I wanted to take some Christmas pictures of my kids in HOPES that I will get cards mailed out this year.  I am very far from a being a photographer, but I do like to dabble with it and learn as I go.  I made up my impromptu Christmas backdrop with some lights, bulbs, and snowflakes.  Since it is practically dark outside when the kids get off the bus I will have to wait until the weekend to take the pictures when I can utilize some natural light.  Because I am impatient at times I wanted to snap a few photos to see how it would look. I got the display ready, but was in need of subject.  Since the girls were at school I had my son be my "model".

All of these are SOOC and as you can see he was quite thrilled to be my subject.  I told him to just sit there so I could play around with my settings.  It was quite entertaining for me.

Then the final 2 pictures couldn't sum up our 10 minute photo session any better.  I can't decide which is my favorite.  One of these might even make it on the Christmas card.  Which one would you vote for?

Funny picture #1.... "Mom, pictures are boring and they are making me sleepy."

Or

Funny picture #2.... "Mom, I can't take it anymore!!!!"

My kids make me laugh!!!

My Youngest Daughter

Eight years ago today my hubs and I welcomed our youngest daughter into the world.  I remember all too well being pregnant with her.... I remember the painful blood clots that landed me on bed rest for two months, but mostly I remember how stinkin' hot it was.  I had "cankles" and I was miserable!!!  When we got home from the hospital our house was freezing cold.  My hubs said he tried telling me it was freezing, but I couldn't get cooled off when I was pregnant.  When you are a farmer/rancher wife you often get referred to as a cow during pregnancy.  For example, with every child my hubs offered to get a new set of calf pullers, our house was referred to as the coolin' barn, and I won't got into the details about what a cow does with afterbirth.  You can read here or try google if you are curious.

Anyhow, our third baby and our third daughter was such a blessing.  She and her older sister are 20 months apart.  My middle daughter was quite a handful so when baby #3 came along and was completely calm and laid back it made things easIER!!!  She is such a sweet girl and we laughed at the funny faces she would make up until 2 years ago when I took her to the eye doctor and discovered the reason why she made those funny faces all the time.  She is very affectionate and once she gets to know you....you will not escape her with out receiving a "huggie" or two or three or four!!!!

So Happy 8th Birthday Sweetie!!!!!!

Here she is ALL SMILES showing her bucket calf Yogi yesterday at our fair.
