Fifteen Years

Fifteen years ago today my hubby and I said "I do"....and meant it!!!!  It is hard to believe it has been 15 years, but it has been 15 fabulous years.  I love my husband more than ever {because he actually puts up with me is saying something for that man} and I think I can speak for him when I say that he loves me just as much {he would say he loves me more}.

With it being our anniversary it makes me think back all those years ago.  We got married when I was 18....YEP....18 years old.  My husband was 21 and turned 22 a week later {on the day I graduated from High School.....YEP....I said High School}.  We were soooo young!!!!  My husband had hair and I had 35 less pounds to lug around and we were in love {and still are}.  Several people thought we would have a baby in a short 9 months, but that was not the case we did not "have" to get married.  We were young and in love and ready to start our life together.

My husband had bought the farm the summer he graduated from high school and so he was pretty well set with a job.  We decided I would not go to college either {a decision we both regret now.... remember we were very young....we both wish we would have went}.  We live in a very small town with not a lot of job opportunities so I was going to help on the farm and one day be a stay at home for the most part mom.  That was our plan anyhow.  The old guy my husband bought the farm from told him "just because you didn't go to college doesn't mean you won't pay for an education".  Oh how we have found that statement to be true.....more than once!!

So here we are 15 years later still living our dream!!!

Raising our four children our our farm.  And still asking the Lord to keep his hand upon us.

And we couldn't be happier!!!!!!!!!!!  Happy Anniversary to my wonderful husband!!!

Mushroom Tomato & Garlic Quesadilla

I made this quesadilla the other night night for myself.  I love quesadillas because they are easy to make and I can be creative with them.  And they involve cheese which is one of my favorite foods!!!!

Here is what you need
½ cup shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese
½ cup shredded Asiago Cheese
¼ cup Crumbled Goat Cheese
2-3 tbsp Butter
2 cloves Garlic
1 Tomato
4 Mushrooms
Flour Tortillas

Shred the sharp cheddar and asiago cheese.

Slice the mushrooms

Chop the garlic.

Dice the tomato.

Melt 2-3 tbsp of butter over medium to high heat.

Sauté the mushrooms in the butter for 5 to 6 minutes.

Then add the garlic and sauté for 2 minutes.

Then add the tomato and cook for about a minute.

Heat your tortilla on medium to high heat and add the crumbled goat cheese to one half of the tortilla.

And the sharp cheddar cheese.

And your asiago cheese.

Then add your mushroom, garlic, and tomato mixture and top with all the cheeses.

Fold the tortilla over and cook until golden brown.

And enjoy!!

I think this recipe could benefit from added ingredients.  I love flavor and it was lacking something.....maybe spinach, onions, peppers, m&m's.....not sure, but if you make it with an added ingredient please share with me!!!

Flower Pot Chair

Because it is spring and because I can't stop buying flowers I had to come up with another place for yet another pot of flowers.  And because I have been salvaging through the old sheds at the farm (see what else I found here) coming across some cool stuff I couldn't help but turn this "find" into a flower pot {with the help of my friend and neighbor's husband because my hubs was out of town}.

The chair is old which I love.  The chair is white which I love.  The chair has old chippy paint which I love love love.  I think it is perfect and cute.  The chair did have one leg that was a little shorter than the others, but in this case it works!

I traced the size of circle I wanted for the terra cotta flower pot to sit in and then my friend and neighbor's husband used a 1" drill bit to cut an access point for the jigsaw to fit in to cut the circle.  It took all of 5 minutes for this beauty to come to life!!!!!!

Mud, Stitches, & Mother's Day

WARNING this post contains pictures of blood {and not from livestock, but a real human} so consider yourself warned.

It was incredibly hot here today and the kids wanted to run through the sprinkler so being the good mom I am I let them.  Of course we can't just play in the water we have to involve mud somehow.

Not sure why Emma has her swimming suit top on wrong, but who cares we live in the sticks so nobody would see her.  Maybe it is a new fashion thing that I am not aware of.  They were playing and laughing, and then Jordan said she cut her foot and asked me to bring her a band-aid.  She stuck her foot in a green mossy tank to "wash" it off.   I went to get the band-aid and some paper towels to dry her foot and came back to put the band-aid on, but it was pretty bloody.

Once I got it cleaned up enough to see the cut I had to break it to her that we would be heading to the emergency room for some stitches.  She was not happy about this adventure we were about to embark on, but I did not give her a choice.

She has never had stitches before {it is usually Emma who has stitches} and was mostly afraid of the shot to numb her toe.  She said she would rather have a shot in her mouth than her foot {isn't that backwards compared to what most people think....I work in a dental office so I know these things}.

She questioned everything the nurses were doing.  She has a wonderful sense of humor and so did the nurses.  The nurse asked if she wanted her temperature taken under the tongue or on her forehead.  I mentioned another way they could take, but she didn't find the humor in it.

She was shivering cold and had to soak her foot for awhile before they would start stitching it up.

It doesn't look too bad here, but when they peeled it back to have a better look it was pretty deep.  She squeezed my hand so hard when they numbed her up that I thought they might need to call radiology to x-ray my hand.  I now have a permanent indention from my wedding ring.

They washed it up and removed several pieces of glass and debris.

Here is the blurred {I will spare you the full blown version} picture of her blood, tissue, and toe fat.

All stitched up and she was doing good.

All cleaned up and waiting for them to bandage it up.

She was done with stitches and all sorts of happy that it was done and over with.

But then she had to get a tetanus shot.  She didn't squeeze my hand as hard as the first time {whew....I don't think I would have fingers left if she did}.

Thumbs up and ready to go home!!!  Happy Mother's Day!!!!

Old Ladder

I really want a flower box below my window.  When I see a house with a flower box flowing with vibrant flowers it makes me want one....okay so I am jealous I don't have one.  The hubs has a bunch of old wood in the shop and I think he should build me one.......like now {but he is busy planting}.

Another great thing about living on a farm is there is lots of "junk" E-V-E-R-Y-W-H-E-R-E!!!  We have several old sheds full of stuff so I decided to scope them out awhile back to see if there were any hidden treasures.  I was super excited when I found this old ladder.

And I was thrilled to find these old rusty pails.

I had no idea what I was going to do with the ladder or the pails, but I like them and figured I would think of something.....someday.

I mowed the yard this morning and then started pulling weeds in my flower bed and then it hit me.  I knew what I was going to do with my old ladder and rusty pails.

This is our the back side of our house.  Notice the trim around the window is not painted.  I have only put that off for 2 years.  It was gorgeous out today so I decided to tackle that project.  I spent the whole day outside working and got a sunburn on my arms.

I had to make another trip to the shop for some wire and while I was there I found this old watering can and another old pail.

Sorry it is a bad picture, but I decided to make it a planter.

Then I used the old ladder and did this.

And this.

And this with the last pail.

And now my back yard looks like this.

I am excited for my flowers to grow so I will have petunias flowing down my ladder.  I need to get some flowers for my hanging basket too.

So needless to say....one farmer's junk is his wife's treasure!!!!!!!  It is not quite a flower box, but will work until I can get one made!!!

Here is an update of how things have grown the last 3 weeks!!
