My current cell phone contract will be up soon {♪♪♪hallelujah♪♪♪} and I plan to switch carriers. I am currently a Blackberry user {my dad calls it a Blueberry...lol} and it is okay. I have the Curve so I have a smaller screen and the roller ball can get on my nerves in a hurry when it doesn't work. I love the message indicator light and the keyboard. I am not fond of the applications, but hey I am just a farm girl and the only one I use on a regular basis is the weather app.
I want a phone with a larger screen and I am not opposed to a touch keyboard....I think. I have an ipod touch and love everything about it. I have heard mixed reviews on the iphone such as the phone not having a battery. Also there is no message indicator light on the iphone 4. I will hold out for the iphone 5 as I have heard it will have the light. Why am I so addicted to a blinking light?!? I have heard issues with it locking up and since there is no battery it tends to be a problem. My BB locks up ALL the time and I remove the battery for a minute and then it USUALLY works again. What do you do when this happens to an iphone?
As far as the Droid goes I am not familiar with them at all, but people keep telling me they are the best. So what is so great about the Droid? What are your favorite features? Have you been a previous iphone user, but switched to a Droid? If so, why?? I know they make a droid with the keyboard similar to the Blackberry, but that is about all I know.
Please give your input, suggestions, likes or dislikes of my possible future phone!!!! Please and THANK YOU!!!!!

Wheat Harvest
We finished up with wheat harvest last weekend and I am a little slow getting around to sharing it with you because the fire decided to happen and that took priority.... unfortunately . When wheat harvest rolls around it is always extremely hot......it is miserable {I prefer corn harvest because of the cooler weather}. It is the kind of hot that makes my back fat sweat in profuse quantities. You stink like no other, but that is okay because everyone else out in the fields does too.
We call this dumpin' on the go......not to be confused with bathroom duties. The tractor and grain cart drive along side the combine as the auger is unloading so progress of cutting the wheat does not stop.
See all the dust???......I am pretty sure 90% of it made its way to me and stuck to the sweat that was dripping off me.
One happy little farm boy!!!!!!

My Favorite Fair Photos
Our fair is over {sigh} for another year. I don't think I cooked at home all week. In fact, I hope I remember how to cook. After a week of eating fair food {which is yummy and only comes around once a year so I find myself shoveling in every bit of funnel cake I could get my hands on so I would not want to eat it for another year OR have cravings for it....whew} I am ready for some down home cooking. Maybe what I need does not need to be cooked.....maybe I need a big leafy green salad to make me feel better about what I ate all week.
Despite what I ate we had a great time at the fair. I thought I would share some of my favorite photos of our past week.

Loading saddles....Love this picture other than the shadow of my head....lol.
Just when you think you got them all cleaned up they go and do this.
My middle daughter....wonder what she is thinking???
Waiting her turn in the 107 degree temperature.
A Brother & Sister moment!!!
Focused on the next barrel.
Bringin' him home.
She never stops smiling when she is riding!!!
Lookin' where she is going next.
Beautiful turn.
Headin' home.
Eating a donut before she shows her heifer.
Hangin' out with her heifer.
In the show ring and making eye contact with the judge {that is HUGE when you are showing}.
Asking to go rope.
His happy place.
Until he gets his rope taken away....
Setting her heifer up.
This isn't her goat, but she has wanted one ever since she went to a roping clinic where they used goats.
So proud of her bucket calf.
My friend's son driving steering one of the new bumper cars......he is such a character!!!
They had such a fun time!!!!
My son holding on to my friend's daughter.....isn't that just the sweetest thing.
So that sums up our last week. We are totally exhausted, but it is sooooo worth it!!!!!

My Youngest Daughter
Eight years ago today my hubs and I welcomed our youngest daughter into the world. I remember all too well being pregnant with her.... I remember the painful blood clots that landed me on bed rest for two months, but mostly I remember how stinkin' hot it was. I had "cankles" and I was miserable!!! When we got home from the hospital our house was freezing cold. My hubs said he tried telling me it was freezing, but I couldn't get cooled off when I was pregnant. When you are a farmer/rancher wife you often get referred to as a cow during pregnancy. For example, with every child my hubs offered to get a new set of calf pullers, our house was referred to as the coolin' barn, and I won't got into the details about what a cow does with afterbirth. You can read here or try google if you are curious.
Anyhow, our third baby and our third daughter was such a blessing. She and her older sister are 20 months apart. My middle daughter was quite a handful so when baby #3 came along and was completely calm and laid back it made things easIER!!! She is such a sweet girl and we laughed at the funny faces she would make up until 2 years ago when I took her to the eye doctor and discovered the reason why she made those funny faces all the time. She is very affectionate and once she gets to know you....you will not escape her with out receiving a "huggie" or two or three or four!!!!
So Happy 8th Birthday Sweetie!!!!!!
Here she is ALL SMILES showing her bucket calf Yogi yesterday at our fair.

County Fair Questions
This week is very hectic for our household {I am beginning to wonder if ALL the weeks are hectic with the way things are going} because our county fair takes place. I love our fair!!! We have a county owned carnival and it takes lots of volunteers to pull it off every year. It seems to get better and better each year thanks to those volunteers!!!! The attractions at our fair are a Ranch Rodeo, two nights of Rodeo {the regular kind with all the events}, and a Demo Derby which always seems to draw a huge crowd!!!! There are other things going on throughout the week as well. Our fire department {which we are thankful for} holds a FREE barbecue on Friday night. They dig a pit and cook all the meat and it is to die for!!!!!!!
Today we have the horse show {which I need to be going out the door and not blogging}. We have two girls that are old enough to show. They will be taking Archie and Cartoon today. The temperature is predicted to be 105 degrees with a heat index of 110. YEP, it is horse show day for sure!!!
So with it being county fair week around here I am curious about all of you so I thought I would ask you some questions.
1. Do you attend your county fair?
2. Have you or your kids been in or are in 4-H, if so what projects did you do?
3. Do you check out all the 4-H exhibits and animal projects?
4. What is your favorite thing about fair?
5. Funnel cake or onion blossom?
Here are my answers:
1. Yep, we pretty much live at the fairgrounds this week.
2. I was not in 4-H, but my kids are and they do several projects....cooking, sewing, photography, woodworking, electricity, and show cattle and horses. It is a lot of WORK, but they learn so much!!!
3. Of course I do, I love crafts and there are always neat ideas. I also like checking out all the livestock. 4-Hers put a lot of work into these animals and it definitely shows!!!!
4. I think I would have to say my favorite thing about fair is when it is over!!!....LOL. It is such a long week for us, but honestly my favorite thing is seeing my kids having fun!!!!
5. Ummmm.....I am going to have both!!!!

Paul Harvey Said It Best......
I don't know about all of you, but I enjoyed listening to Paul Harvey. His voice, yes his voice was so distinct and he talked with such clarity. Sometimes I found myself admiring the baritone voice that I wouldn't pay attention to what he was saying. I don't think any person in radio will ever be able to make such an impact on the air as Paul Harvey.
I remember my grandpa ordering some product {I believe it was to help with your vision} that he had endorsed. My grandpa was also giving it great reviews {well, because Paul Harvey said it was great so it must of been}. My grandpa also sent us something to flush down our toilets when we had some septic tank issues {sorry, but "it" happens}. He had called and told me he was mailing it to me and that Paul Harvey was talking about the great benefits of this certain product. Don't ask me what it was because I can't remember.
My husband and his dad would talk about Paul Harvey's programming often. Paul Harvey had a way of saying things that just made sense.
My father in law's sister recently shared this link with us. I am not certain, but I think my father in law had mentioned he liked Paul Harvey talking about why God made farmers.

Things Got A Little Hot
It has been so hot the last several days. We have had 100 plus degree temperatures with awful humidity. It is miserable. I can't have a good hair day because my hair is naturally curly and it just turns to frizz in this humidity. If you have natural curl you hate it and if you don't have it you want it.
Wheat harvest is winding down and I took lunch to the field and picked up a couple extra kids who were hot and wanted to come hang outwith me in the a/c. We were home for awhile and then the kiddos wanted to go to pool so I rounded up some swimsuits for everyone. Once everyone got their suits and boots on {yes, boots....when you are a country kid boots go with any attire} we headed to town.
After the kids had their fun at the pool we headed back home and I happen to check the outside temperature on my vehicle which read 106!!!!!!!!!!!!! My goodness!!!!!!!!!!! It feels as hot as it did 8 years ago when I was 9 months pregnant and the temperature was 113 degrees for several days in a row. Ughh!!!! I also noticed some very black smoke in the sky in the direction of one of our hay fields. When we popped over the last hill I could see flames from a mile away. I instantly went into prayer mode for every ones safety. My heart dropped and my eyes did not lose focus of that fiery blaze. When I was close enough to see that everyone was safe my heart got back into a semi normal beat.
I parked my vehicle a safe distance away from the fire and went to talk to our hired hand. He had called the fire department and my hubs. I watched the swather burn for awhile and then ran home to grab my camera {which I had just taken back in the house from taking some wheat harvest pictures}. When I got back to the field the fire department was there fighting the fire.
We are not sure what started the fire. Our hired hand had been swathing hay, but had stopped so he could load a hay truck. When he finished loading the truck he hopped back in the swather and tried to start it, but it didn't start. It made a loud popping noise so he got out to see what was wrong and it was instantly on fire. The truck driver and his wife were still there ready to pull out of the stack yard when it happened......and they all said it happened FAST. They did have a fire extinguisher they used to try to put it out, but it wasn't enough.
Praise God that everyone was safe!!!!!!
So needless to say our very hot day yesterday got a little "hotter"!!!
Stay cool!!!
